Our Junior Travel Ambassadors

Our Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) are a small group of enthusiastic Year 5 pupils who represent ‘pupil voice’ in all matters relating to road safety and transport.  The role of a JTA is to encourage a greener approach to transport and try to support initiatives to promote walking, biking or scooting to school wherever possible.

The Junior Travel Ambassador scheme is run by Transport for London. The children meet regularly to share ideas and opinions. They promote a variety of road safety competitions throughout the year, and organise prizes for winning entries.

In the past our Junior Travel Ambassadors have:
  • campaigned for a 20mph zone in the roads around our school as part of their '20 is plenty!' awareness campaign.
  • presented to South Cambs District Council to extend the A10 cycle way
  • increased our understanding of rail safety
  • Led a 'Be Safe...Be Seen' campaign increasing children visibility in winter
  • Increased the number of children walking, cycling and scooting to school
  • Won a scooterpod to encourage children to scoot to school
